Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says ground has broken on 316 homes so far this year in Lethbridge, that’s up considerably from 240 during the same five months last year. Canadian Home Builders Assication – Lethbridge Region CEO, Angie Zuba says the numbers indicate a very diversified local economy. She says what’s driving this is a fundamental belief of stability in Lethbridge and people continue to move here. New home construction in Lethbridge is up for both single-detached and multi-family builds. Single-detached start sit at 188 for the year, up from 166 in 2014 and Multi-family construction came in at 128 starts for May, a jump from 74 at this time a year ago. Zuba also says Lethbridge new home prices are very affordable compared to most other cities in Alberta

Lethbridge College to unveil donation from the College Home’s second-year builders
June 1, 2015 – Members of the media are invited to attend the unveiling of the second College Home donation to Lethbridge College at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Centre Core.
Lethbridge College, along with Avonlea Homes and Stranville Living, will unveil the amount donated to the new trades and technologies facility. The event will also recognize the support of the two companies’ suppliers and tradespeople who added their support to the College Home.
The College Home is a unique partnership between the Canadian Home Builders’ Association Lethbridge Region (CHBA) and Lethbridge College. The project involves two different CHBA builders each year who work with their suppliers and tradespeople to build one homes each with the proceeds from the sales going toward the college’s new trades and technologies facility. Ten college homes will be built over a five year period.
